I am requesting sewing machine kits, clips, thread, rotary cutter, mats, books, and a few other starting supplies for sewing. Sewing has become a lost art of sorts, and I would enjoy reintroducing it to students through a small club. I plan on rolling this out next school year and will start with just 5 fifth graders. Ideally, I will be able to expand to a larger group each school year.
My goals for this project are to lay the foundations of a skill that many students may not think about, as well as allow students to express their creativity through the freedom of creating hand and machine sewn projects.
My students come from various backgrounds and I know that I learn from them every day. They bring their own flair with their cultural background and style, which I absolutely love.
