My Project
I see approximately (130) 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students per week in my classroom. These students are in school from 7:45am - 4:15 pm which makes for a long day. Majority of them or from single parent and very low-income homes, so they depend on the free lunch provided at the school for nourishment.
From day to day, I always have students approaching me about being hungry in the afternoon after the meager lunch has worn off.
With grumbling stomachs and hunger headaches, it's very hard for these students focus on their learning. This is why we need your help. I have purchased snacks out of my low teacher salary; however, I need your help to be able to provide more to my students in need.
This project is full of healthy, sweet, and spicy snacks to help curb the appetite and feed the many students who are hungry mid-day and still have several hours left in school to try and focus on learning.
The requested snacks like peanut butter crackers, cookies, chips and juice will aid in sustaining them until they get home and the wipes and kleenex will help to sanitize their areas while and before they eat the snack. Please help us "add a snack a day to keep hunger at bay" in our classrooms.
