My Students

What's not to love about my students?!?! We are a small one-strand school in a big city.

I love that my students are eager to learn and are always thoughtful and kind towards their peers.

I got emotional when they expressed that they miss coming to school.

I have taught for over 20 years and each year I look forward to inspiring a new group of incredible young minds, but this coming year holds new challenges that I'm eager to face.

No matter what the next academic year will bring, one thing is for sure... whether it's online learning, 6 feet apart, or behind a mask, my students will receive the best learning experience I can give them. They deserve it!

Our students always come to school smiling and prepared to learn, therefore I want to make sure that the learning continues. I want to give them all the instruction and opportunities they fully deserve. We will start and end the year on high notes!

My Project

Now that our students are returning to in-person schooling, we are in need of a comfortable place for our students to learn that is socially distant. We are striving to create a 21st century learning classroom through the generosity of Donors Choose donors.

Now, we are hoping to utilize a new classroom rug so that our students can feel an even greater sense of classroom community.

Throughout our school day, we plan to use the rug to foster community amongst our students. Not only will a new rug this provide flexible seating options for students to maintain social distance, but also it will create opportunities for our classroom community to grow.

In addition, this rug is patterned to look like a 6 by 5 mathematical array! In third grade, we introduce concepts of multiplication, area, and perimeter. Having this large array at our disposal will help us to teach these important concepts through a hands-on, multi-sensory approach. Students will be able to create human arrays that are evenly spaced out. They will even be able to find the area and perimeter of our rug!

With a new rug, we will be able to develop feelings of belongingness. It goes without saying that during the pandemic our students are seeking community. It is our hope that this rug will support our classroom in this endeavor!
