When the materials arrived, my students were beyond excited. They couldn't wait to explore what was in the boxes. One student even said, \"I can't wait to use this\" when he saw the math base 10 blocks. Their smiles and excitement reminded me of how powerful hands-on learning can be. The magnetic numbers, phonics letter tiles, alien counters, and base ten blocks quickly became favorites, with students proudly building numbers and sounding out letters with their peers.\r\n\r\nWe are using our new materials every day during our lessons. In math, students use ten frames to add and subtract, magnetic numbers to build multi digit numbers, alien counters to help with one-to-one correspondence, and base ten blocks to better understand place value and regrouping when adding and subtracting. The math workbooks have been especially helpful in reinforcing our lessons by giving students extra practice to strengthen the math skills we learn in class, especially when it comes to multiplication. During phonics instruction, we use the letter tiles to practice letter sounds and letter identification, and we will soon practice building and breaking apart words in the near future. The cleaning supplies, our dry erase wipes and Clorox wipes, help us keep our classroom clean and safe while allowing students to use dry erase boards and hands-on materials throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThese new resources will continue to support small-group instruction and give my students the confidence they need to try new skills independently. As they grow, we will build on these lessons by challenging them to apply what they've learned in new ways. Because of your kindness, my students are more engaged, confident, and excited to learn math and reading. The topics, apples, pumpkins, and fire safety, fit perfectly with our classroom learning. We read about apples and pumpkins before our farm trip, and students were so excited to see what they had learned come to life. We'll soon be doing a pumpkin science experiment, and they're already making predictions.\r\n\r\nEach issue has helped build early literacy skills like vocabulary, comprehension, and sequencing through engaging pictures and hands-on activities. Reading time is always a favorite part of our day, and My Big World is inspiring a true love of reading!\r\n\r\nWhen we read about staying safe at school, students made wonderful connections to our own fire drill during the second week of school. For students working on fine motor skills the slanted board provides an opportunity to increase fine motor strength, which impacts their ability to write and participate fully in school.\r\n\r\nThe \"all in one\" kitchen set for our dramatic play center has meant the world to our students. The dramatic play area is the center of the classroom for students to practice problem solving skills, learn to interact with each other, and to act our storylines from our literacy units.
