Help me give my students a pencil bag full of pencils, pens, glue, and other supplies so they can begin learning from day one this coming school year!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
On the first day of school, when my students are in a new classroom, with a new teacher, speaking a language that is new to them, it's understandable they're a bit anxious. That first day it is tough to communicate, and the room is awfully quiet.
It is so important that first day to set the tone that not only are they welcome, but that I want them to have the tools to succeed.
I need your help to break the silence and the tension by celebrating them and the learning we are all about to embark upon. I know that I can get them excited for the school year ahead, and give them something to talk about with their new classmates by giving them a toolkit for learning on that first day.
My Project
Over 95% my students' families fall below the poverty line. Many are on public assistance; many others are barely surviving. Yet, my students are expected to meet the same educational standards as more affluent students of New York. I propose in the first week of school to provide all of my students with a pencil pouch containing all of the basic supplies they need to complete their classwork and lab assignments. Items like pencils, pens, glue sticks, and tissues that are always in demand will now be close at hand, and everyone will have them.
With all the difficulties in their lives, often students lose or forget to bring in supplies.
Some simply cannot afford to purchase the needed supplies. Your act of kindness and generosity will go a long way toward eliminating this obstacle to the learning process and will be remembered by our students. Students will also know that there are people in their community who care about them and their education.
Your act of kindness will have a long-lasting impact on our students. Please help me help those most in need while we make learning fun and engaging. Thank you for your generosity.
