Help me give my students cardstock and laminating pouches--items I can use to send home durable and laminated sight words, math manipulatives, math and word building mats. An air purifier will keep us safe as we work in the classroom.
My Title 1 school is kindergarten through 5th grade. The students come from many different backgrounds, demographics, and abilities. Well over 80% of our students are eligible to participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program and receive backpack food on the weekends. We strive for a firm foundation in reading and math so that our students can succeed no matter where they are starting academically. Many of our students face personal challenges at home, yet they attend my Zooms every day eager and excited to learn!
In some ways, remote learning has turned out to be challenging for my hands-on kindergartners.
My Project
I will use the requested resources to create durable items for my students to use at home. Each student will receive their own set of laminated sight words, math and word building mats, and math manipulatives. These items will make learning new math and reading skills much easier for my students because they will have durable materials they need to be actively engaged while learning at home.
As they are remote learning, my students need their own manipulatives at home in order to continue to develop crucial math and language skills.
These manipulatives will support ELA and math development. The new materials can be used in a multitude of ways including supporting important skills like sorting, counting using one-to-one correspondence, making patterns and with a variety of fine motor activities. The lesson possibilities are endless! The air purifier and filters are essential for our classroom to keep everyone safe.
