This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning, my kindergartners enter our classroom full of life, energy, and wonder for the day ahead. We begin our day with circle time, fun morning songs, and a chance to share a bit about their lives to prepare them for a day full of learning.

Circle time is a way for my students to mentally prepare for the day and have a break from their harsh realities.

I work in a Title One school where one hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Over ninety percent of the students come from low-income households and a neighborhood filled with crime and homelessness.

Our school has one of the highest percentages of foster and homeless youth in the district. But, my students' circumstances do not define them. They are wonderful children who deserve the best and many opportunities to succeed. With your help and DonorsChoose.org., I will be able to give my students these opportunities to ensure they have a better future.

My Project

I will be returning to the classroom in less than 3 weeks. We will be teaching simultaneously, which means we will be teaching half our class in person and the other half online at the same time. I need a second screen so my students who are at home can see their classmates that are in class and vice versa.

This will help build community in my class since we will not be all together in the same space at one time.

This year has been difficult for all of us and this second screen and the cords needed to connect my class together will be a wonderful community builder.
