Second grade is when kids start to get used to school. It can also be the time when kids start to not like school. It’s so important to offer everything that second graders need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally so that they can get a great foundation. Our second graders come to us so ready and willing to learn and it’s our job as educators to nurture that passion. With the right tools, and a lot of time, we can help those kids not only learn how to be in school but also learn how to thrive in school!
My Project
We set out at the beginning of this school year with the goal of reading one quality picture book a day. Of course, we read several more times than once a day, but this is intentional reading of an exceptional picture book. So often, picture books are left out as kids grow older, but they carry excellent examples of writing and almost always have a moral or lesson worth repeating.
We're running out of books!
We have almost hit 100 days of school, which means that we're almost at 100 picture books. It's going to take 80 more picture books to get through this year! These almost 20 books will help us get a little closer to our goal!
