My Students
We are three weeks into the school year! Students have arrived and are ready to learn and interact with their new classmates. As their teacher, I want to make sure that I am prepared for whatever obstacles are to come, especially during the first month. I also want to be able to provide them with quality instruction that supports their needs in special education. However, I have been experiencing a problem with trying to implement instruction via technology!
Located in Washington, D.C., we are still in need of resources required to meet the needs of my students with disabilities.
In the middle of working on a teacher related project during the summer, my computer crashed and would not turn on. At all. All current and past information gone. Independently, I have attempted all strategies of reconnecting my computer. Now it's time for an alternative.
My Project
A visit to the Apple Store ended up costing more than I would have liked to provide. After a diagnosis, I learned that it would cost even more to fix the computer. It's important that I find a replacement to be able to prepare for all of the things that are in store for the upcoming school year, and I think that I may have come to the right place!
I am in the middle of an amazing educational journey, however, I cannot continue this journey without the use of a computer.
Currently, I am on a journey to becoming a National Board Certified Teacher for Exceptional Students. This involves reviewing several videos online, uploading student data, and recording instructional sessions. This process is very seamless with the use of a computer. Without a computer, the process can be daunting. The need for a computer doesn't stop there! In order for my students to have instruction which meets them where they are, I need to use a variety of websites to that will provide accommodations and modifications. For instance, utilizing the websites BrainPop Jr. and Flocabulary will assist my students with skills needed to strengthen reading comprehension and math.
Without a teacher computer, all of my future professional developments and training cannot exist. Now that the school year has started, I have found myself having to rely on borrowed computers to get the job done. I am hoping that you can assist me with no longer having to borrow a technology device, so that I may have my own!
