Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in sixth, seventh and eighth grade and are curious and playful. They’re always ready to explore something new and love hands-on materials in the classroom.
This year, we need more set pieces such as chairs, sofas and stage blocks where they can use them for the plays that they wrote during the year.
When performing a play, it is important to recreate a reality on stage. The sofas and chairs will be used for the student to recreate living rooms, offices, bedrooms and more, the blocks will be used to recreate different scenarios such as jungles, forests, parks and different locations.
I am a drama teacher, and in my lessons the students have been writing one act plays with their groups to perform at the end of May. My students will use these items and material for the MS 7 One Act Theater Festival we will put up at the end of May. Students will use furniture and moving pieces for their plays' sets. Having set pieces and furniture the students can recreate a reality onstage where they can tell a story to an audience. The idea of this project is to promote a better understanding on stage blocking, set design and Theater production.
