This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Reading gives us a place to go when we have to stay where we are."

My students attend a K-6 public school, in a low income area.

As a Title One school, all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the lack of resources and challenges my students face on a daily basis, they are an energetic and enthusiastic group of Kindergarteners. They come to school each day, eager to learn new things and to apply the skills I have taught them.

My Project

In order to fully access the curriculum, my students need access to a variety of resources in order to practice and refine their newly acquired skills. With your generous donations, I would like to set up a literacy center. Here, students will be able to build the foundational skills necessary to become literate. My students need a variety of materials such as magnetic white boards, stampers, ink pads and magnetic letters to promote and enhance literacy skills and phonemic awareness. Their new found literacy will enable them to enjoy literature and through it, explore far off places and embark on magical adventures.

Please help my students achieve their full potential by allowing them the opportunity to fine tune their literacy skills through hands-on activities.
