Second grade is when kids start to get used to school. It can also be the time when kids start not like school. It’s so important to offer everything that second graders need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally so that they can get a great foundation. Our second graders come to us so ready and willing to learn and it’s our job as educators to nurture that passion. With the right tools and a lot of time, we can help those kids not only learn how to be in school but also learn how to thrive in school!
My Project
Once upon a time, there was a teacher who had the best of intentions to read a high quality picture book a day to her students. These books would be full of adventure and magic, compassion and life lessons, and a diverse range of people. This goal started out great, and for the first few months, both students and teacher enjoyed each day's book immensely. But as time went on, the teacher realized something...
She didn't have enough read aloud books to read one book a day for the whole school year.
This project is full of books that will help us complete our goal. My students have grown used to high quality books every morning, and are realizing that we are quickly going through all the picture books in our class library. With this project, we would have enough picture books to take us through the entire year. And they all would live happily ever after!
