My Students

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." With these resources, my class is one step closer to reading and math success.

I have a melting pot of 21 students who range in age from 9 to 10.

Of the 21, 5 are English Language Learners, and about 5 are being monitored. A majority of my students are from low-income families and they receive free or reduced lunch. We are a Title 1 school. My students are an awesome bunch of kids who love to read and do math.

My Project

These resources will help my students to be independent, fluent, problem solvers. During small group time in reading, I have the kids do rotations/stations independently. One of the stations that I have are Hot Dots. Due to limited funding, I could only provide a few Hot Dot pens. While some of the students are reading and answering the prompts with the pens, the others are just writing their answers on paper. Also, during small group time, we have reading fluency drills. I often do it individually due to the lack of timers. With enough timers, my students can do the drills in pairs or individually. Lastly, calculators will help my students develop real life applications in math and will also help them to problem solve. Rather than always depending on the teacher to correct their work, they will correct their own work using the calculator. With these resources they will learn to become independent, fluent, problem solvers.

Donations will improve my classroom greatly.

It will help my students gain the skills they need to become successful leaders of tomorrow. Skills that they will gain are the ability to be self-directed learners, the ability to be fluent in reading and math, and also the ability to solve their own problems.
