My Students
Help us inspire future scientists by moving instruction from the text book to hands on experiments!
I teach a group of bright and motivated fifth grade students.
Our school is a Title 1, urban school that desperately needs resources. Despite our needs, my students bring their smiles and positive attitudes to school daily, and they are always excited to learn. These students are able to grasp concepts and go beyond what is required of them when they get to touch and experience the ideas we are talking about. Hand on experiences give them the life experiences they need to grow their background knowledge and create connections that help them to reach higher levels of thinking.
My Project
I am requesting a number of experiment kits that will provide students with the hands-on, student-centered activities that will inspire the scientist hidden inside each of them. Concepts like matter and cells are hard for fifth graders to grasp, but these kits will provide meaningful and kinesthetic opportunities for them to truly experience the subject matter instead of just reading about it. They will learn to be thinkers, doers, and dreamers.
My goal is to encourage a love of learning in each of my students and to prepare them for the changing world.
With our population's growing needs, like alternative energy sources, feeding the growing population, and medical advancements, the science field will offer career opportunities for my students. Your donation could help to inspire the next generation of scientists who will help to solve the problems ahead.
