My Students

The population my school serves is mostly minority students comprised of 70% Black Non-Hispanic (a vast majority of these are of Haitian-Creole descent), 22% Hispanic, 5% White Non-Hispanic, and 3% Asian/Indian/Multiracial.

The school as a whole is classified as a Title I school, which is a school with a high percentage of children from low-income families, to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

We are designated as a STEM school and the students I personally teach are represented in our STEM-based magnet program.

My Project

This school year our athletic program will be offering girls and boys track and field for the first time in several years. We must build our program with the most essential and expensive item--clothing.

Both our boys and girls track teams and girls volleyball teams need uniforms.

Supporting our athletic program would help us offer a well-rounded program and encourage our students in becoming more active. It would also allow us to divert our resources to acquiring less expensive items such as equipment.

Additionally, you would be supporting our girls' volleyball team with updated uniforms--who currently have old and worn uniforms. Also, our co-ed softball team would be getting a batting practice net.
