I need study resources for component one of the National Board Certification for Music: Early and Middle Childhood so that I can deepen my content knowledge and elevate my students' learning.

My Project

Why become a National Board Certified Teacher? Becoming a National Board Certified Teacher represents the “gold standard” in education. It’s a recognition that goes beyond knowing your subject—it means deeply understanding your students, your content area, and the national standards that guide instruction. This professional development will not only help me grow as an educator, but also allow me to be more intentional and effective in the classroom.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in instrumental music education in the 1990s, but for the past several years, my role has been as an elementary music teacher, working with PreK through 5th grade students in general music.

The materials I’m requesting will help me revisit and strengthen areas I studied long ago, as well as explore new content I’ve picked up informally or may have missed along the way. These resources are specifically designed to support the certification process and will help me prepare for the first component, which focuses on content knowledge.
