My Students
Five and six year old children are full of energy! Some days they can hardly contain their excitement for learning and life! Sitting in chairs all day can be really difficult for some students and I would like to offer my Kindergarteners some choices when it comes to seating in our classroom.
My Kindergarten classroom is full of diverse learners who amaze me every day with their insight and abilities.
Our school does an excellent job providing our students and families with a strong community environment that differentiates learning and makes it possible for all children to learn and thrive. I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this unique and special public school.
My Project
By providing alternative seating, such as stability balls, wobble seats, and standing desks, I will be able to tap in to the boundless energy that is the five year old body and mind, and give my students options so they can feel comfortable, and get sensory input when necessary. They can continue to learn and be productive while their bodies are in an enjoyable position.
The donations to this project will help my students by tapping into the philosophy of teaching to the whole child.
School is more than math, reading and writing. It's about becoming the best person you can be, thinking critically, and developing a sense of self and of community. I think that by giving students options in their classroom environment, they will be better able to focus, concentrate, and learn about themselves and the world around them.
