Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students face many struggles. Some are just starting to learn English and others are several grades behind in their reading and language arts skills. Many of them come from low income backgrounds and over 70% of them qualify for free or reduced price lunches. My students need a whole lot more than lectures and worksheets to prepare them for a successful future.
It’s my goal to prepare authentic learning experiences that give my students the opportunity to develop and apply 21st century skills.
My students are the future and they need meaningful learning experiences in order to overcome the challenges they face.
My Project
My students need some alternative seating options in our classroom. We only have a set of normal desks with the seats attached so there aren't many options for students who would benefit from alternative seating. I know that many of my students would greatly appreciate having some different seating options especially if it helps them to work and focus better.
We would like to add two standing desks and two ball chairs to better help my more fidgety students.
Sometimes, it's easier for my students to learn and focus if they can stand or move around a little more while they work.
