This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school has made tremendous gains over the past twelve years, moving from one of the lowest-performing schools in the area to achieving the honor of being named a California Distinguished School!
We are an example of a community of students, teachers, parents, and staff all working together for academic achievement.
Our hope is that many of our students will be the first generation in their families to go to college!
The majority of my students are English language learners (ELLs) whose families are newcomers to America. They are highly motivated to learn and prosper.
My Project
I am requesting a bus to take 25 students to the California Science Center and Imax theater. Our school has a minimal school budget so we do not have funds to pay for the school bus. Will you help us to get to the California Science Center to explore? The California Science Center is a wonderful place that is not too far from our school. The center will provide my students with hands on experiences outside of the classroom setting. They will be able to discover science ideas and concepts that they have read about in class.
What a huge difference to learn many science concepts first-hand and not just from reading a book!
When I share with my students that they will be able to visit the California Science Center because of the generous donations of many people who wish to have a part in their education, that will be a valuable lesson. Just as you share by donating to our classroom and to my students, it is hoped that they, too, will learn to be people who share with others.
