The University of Illinois Family Student Housing is located in Urbana, contributing many foreign students.
Racial/ethnic background of the high school is 48.4% white, 34.1% black, 5.1% Hispanic, 6.2% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 0.2% Native American, and 6.1% multi-racial/ethnic. 51.6% of students are low income, 3.5% are limited English proficient, and the dropout rate is 0.4%.
My Project
Le Petit Prince is a classic French story that chronicles the galactic travels of "the little prince." There are illustrations to catch student's attention and plenty of important grammar and vocabulary for students to study in context! Additionally, there are life lessons in the story for students to analyze, debate and discuss.
Students will be able to use the text to improve their reading comprehension in French, write compositions and textual analysis, and express themselves creatively in French.
This project will help students see French in a new way - instead of straight from a textbook - and inspire them to use French creatively rather than as something they have to do to meet college requirements.
Finally, reading a real novel in French will prepare them for more advanced texts and improve their French comprehension.
