My Students
I teach students in an urban community. Our school population includes 90% second language learners. Each day my students come in eager to learn. The curriculum we provide our students needs to support their language, so they can be successful and proud of their education.
My students thrive on being held to high expectations and setting their own goals.
I want them to make connections within their life and their learning. My school is a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free lunch.
My Project
I would really like to integrate more reading opportunities for my students using technology. My students do not have a wide variety of books readily available to them, so I would like to use epic books, Amazon, and electronic book readers to give them that accessibility.
This will allow my fourth grade students to access and enjoy copious amounts of reading materials and incorporate technology!
Most of my students do not have access to books of different genres at home. Therefore I would like to provide opportunities for my students to have access to those types of text. My ultimate hope is that they can have more exposure to reading for enjoyment. Having the Amazon Fire tables would allow my 4th graders to experience reading in a wider format, more then I could prove within my classroom, without technology.
