This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school. All (100%) of our students get a free lunch. We have students attending that come from neighborhoods all over Tallahassee.
My kids are turning the world upside down with their creativity!
We are a charter school which means that we offer things that are not available to students at our local public schools. My students are six years old and already working with computers and coding. They are participating in reading 1,500 books a month.
These bubbly little people deserve the best and I want to help give it to them.
My Project
We are studying Financial Literacy and they all need to have electronic devices for practicing the understanding of money. My class is a hybrid teaching environment. I want to do the study of financial literacy with the kiddos. They need to use electronic devices so that they can understand and appreciate the value of finance. They will be purchasing pretend stocks and watching them rise or dip. They will also learn how they can balance and manage a savings account. They will be utilizing kid stocks, and budgets that was created for teaching financial literacy in young minds. My kiddos at school have access to laptops but my kiddos at home do not. I want to ensure that they are all on an equal footing.
We want each child to have access to an Amazon Fire HD tablet so that they can set their Financial Literacy in motion.
With this understanding they will grow up to be mathematical geniuses with their financial endeavors. We want them to retain the information and not just learn it and carry this with them into their futures. This project will ensure two tablets are removed from our needs list.
