My Students

In second grade, we are reading non-stop! Reading is our number one priority!

My wonderful second graders are precious students who are very eager to learn!

I am so proud of the people they are considering some of the lives they lead. Our school is located in the middle of Section 8 housing and most of our students live below the poverty line. When they come to our school, they are safe, fed, and loved along with learning!

My Project

Books are the most important tool in the learning tool box. On average, children who live in poverty are 18 months below grade level. Everyday I am trying to change that sad statistic and bring my second graders up to speed. With these books, we would have access to a small library of books in our classroom!

This group of books can be kept in our classroom for easy access and enable my students to improve their reading each day.

These books are leveled which is so important considering the broad range of reading levels I have in my classroom. These books would be read this school year and many more years to come!
