This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Applying for college is stressful! I teach seniors at an urban, high-needs high school, and many of them are beginning to think about their futures and apply for college.
The majority of our students will be the first in their families to apply for college. This is a stressful time, and this after school program will give students a chance to relax and unwind after a long day of AP classes and college essays.
I would like to start an after-school program once a week to promote mindfulness, and help these students focus on the opportunities they have for the future. Yoga would be an integral part of this program. I feel that it is important to teach students to take care of themselves and how to handle the stress that comes with applying for college.
Your help will ensure that my students learn to take care of themselves while preparing for their future. You will make it possible for them to focus on the possibilities of a successful college career!
