Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This summer our students will be learning about the history of the olympics. We will look at several olympians and their journey to make the olympics as well as creative stories about characters in the olympics.

Our goal is to use fiction and non-fiction books to teach our students about the olympics.

We want the summer learning program to be creative and interactive and we will use these materials to develop background knowledge, increase vocabulary skills, expand our comprehension development, and extend our writing capabilities.

My students are amazing in so many ways. They overcome hurdles everyday in their lives that they have no control over - poverty, lack of support, etc. I want to make their few hours with us during the summer as enriching and engaging as possible. These books will be the building blocks for a great summer learning program.
