My Students
Greetings. To know middle school students is to love and cherish their unique perspective on the world. There are those who think middle school students should be sent to the woods for a few years and then come back once they are ready to join the rest of us. I feel like that sometimes. Our kids, children from the Ocean Hill - Brownsville section of Brooklyn are just like any other. With the exception that they live in a world of concrete and what "green" areas they have they can't grow or play on because of what pollutants are in the ground. Our students struggle with a number of barriers to coming to school. Attendance can be an issue due to hunger, hygiene or just having clean clothes, let alone materials.
My Project
I am trying my hardest to jump back into, "real school," in the most fun ways possible. I have realized that the thing kids have missed most, is the old school pen and paper, poster making, and projects.
I am asking for poster boards, markers, and pens in order to make this return to school more fun and engaging for my students.
I look forward to making projects, posters, ads, and most of all having the kids interact with each other and present their work. I have missed it so much!
