My Students
I teach at a Title I school located deep down in south Florida. Our school has over 700 students attending Pre-K to third grade. Over 95% of our school receives free or reduced-price lunch. Many of the students at my school have parents who are migrant workers who spend their days trying to make an honest living for their families by working hard in the fields.
The students in my classroom are Pre-K students with developmental disabilities.
Some are on the Autism Spectrum. Each child, despite whatever is going on in their personal lives at home, shows up to school eager to learn. Our school family treats each child as if they are our own flesh and blood.
My Project
These materials would make a big difference in my class because it will provide me with a faster way to make personalized items for my students with Special Needs. Many of my students have limited language and rely heavily on the use of visuals to communicate. I will also be able to use these materials as motivation for my students that will allow their creative juices to flow. Also, they can assist me with creating unique designs to beautify and properly label our learning space.

A cricut machine for our class would have a positive impact on my students socially as well as emotionally because they would feel like they belong to something. They would take pride in their accomplishments which, in turn, would motivate them to continue to do more positive things. Lastly, we can use it to make flash cards and other learning tools that will help with pre-academic skills. These learning tools could be something that can be sent home to help parents reinforce the skills that we work on in the classroom. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK. Thank you for your support!
