This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a class of energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing students! Our school is a Title I school where most students come from low-income or poverty-stricken homes or may live in a motel. All of the students receive free lunch. Most are English Language Learners, while some have special needs. These students come to school eager to learn every day with big smiles on their faces, regardless of their circumstances. I want to help my students in every way that I can in order for them to be successful in reaching their goal of developing their skills, and of course, have fun!

Our class is currently learning about living and nonliving things.

I thought it would be a great idea to enhance the lesson further by having a class pet! Our class has researched what pet would best fit us and they chose a guinea pig! My students will be able to continue to show responsibility by learning how to take care of a guinea pig through the books I am requesting. They have picked out the habitat that will house the guinea pig as well as the food, bedding, and accessories. We will write stories and draw pictures about our guinea pig. My students are so excited about having a class pet.
