This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our ELA class is structured around a district Reading Program. Over the past several years, I have found that my students become bored mid-year. I began taking a break from the program, and as a class, we read the book Because of Mr. Terupt. ELA skills continued to be addressed but in a different format. The students are able to use the Thinking Classroom strategies more frequently. My class size usually is about 40 students between both classes.

Students are required to share books.

The constant wear and tear on the books is causing the bindings to break, causing the pages to fall out. It is time for a new set!

The Clorox wipes are needed because we switch classes, and with Thinking Classrooms strategies, students actually use whiteboard markers and write on the desks. We need to keep them clean and germ-free!
