This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in inner city Los Angeles. Our school services students that have extremely diverse backgrounds and have had very different experiences. Our students are also considered to have a very low socio-economic level. Yet we are a very united and spirited school that is always looking for ways to encourage our students love for learning, and help them achieve their best.
My students are curious and eager to learn.
They love to ask questions and get more information. Though the questions might not be content related, my students are always looking for opportunities to grow.
My Project
Dr. Suess is synonymous with children and reading. His work is engaging and the rhyming builds the foundation needed for literacy. Many times it is expected for students to know Dr. Suess and his works. Yet, most of my students are immigrants or children of immigrants and English is their second language. This means that most of my students did not get exposed to Dr. Seuss when their were smaller. The resources here will help me open up a whole new world for me students. My students will be able to know the stories that most children already know and at the same time it will help improve their literacy.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
