My Students

My students are young men and young ladies who live in the most dangerous city in the US as well as being labeled one of the highest poverty rates. They struggle daily in many ways to make it to school, but once they arrive, they are ready to go. We have breakfast together, and then we are off on our learning adventure for the day. My students come to school to learn. They have plans for college, and to reach those goals, we push every day to overcome the struggles they face.

My Project

We are the only elementary school in our city that has a fifth grade promotion ceremony, and now we might not have it in person. So, the fifth grade teachers are trying to go a little above and beyond because they are really upset about not being in school this year sharing the normal events and celebrating them, but also just being in class! It has been a very difficult year for this class learning 100% virtually. They really miss being in school and beg on a regular basis to just go back to school. It breaks my heart to hear them missing school, friends, and teachers so much! So we really want to end the year full of fun and positive memories.

We want to create a promotion in a box and the Dr. Seuss book will be the main gift, with little labeled snacks for fun.

All the different teachers the students have had in elementary school will write in the books and share advice and congratulations notes.

During your school years, you have special moments that are always remembered, and my students will have their fifth grade quarantined year. We want them to always remember their fifth grade school year and have fond memories with their friends, teachers, and just learning. We want to send them out a little special and creative graduation in a box.
