Mr. Smedley from Detroit MI is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an LCD projector to supplement lessons with visual aids and to watch CNN Student News during our Morning Meeting! We also need a large carpet to better facilitate our class discussions.

The students in my 1st grade classroom arrive everyday full of energy and a healthy desire to learn and grow. I teach at a title 1 school on Detroit's east side. 85% of our students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Our school is a throwback to a more traditional neighborhood school. Almost all of our students hail from the neighborhood where we are located.
While our school does an excellent job providing us with the necessities that we need on a day-to-day basis, there are still certain things we would greatly benefit from that our school will not provide.
For many of my students, our class is the most structured environment they have. I want the absolute best for my 1st grade scholars, and you can help provide them with the materials they deserve!
Thank you for your prospective donation! The large carpet will supplement our letter identification and provide students with a central location to engage in our whole class discussions. The projector will supplement all subjects by allowing for more and better visual aids to assist with lessons. The projector will also be used to keep our web-based behavior management system known as"kickboard" on and visible to the students at all times. The projector will also be used in conjunction with Reading A-Z in order to allow all of us to read and listen to our ebooks all together as a whole class.
