My Students

Help me teach with current technology! My classroom has the interactive whiteboard but where are the resources to enhance their experience? They're still at the store because technology budgets can only do so much. With your help, my students will better utilize an awesome interactive experience!

How often do we ask ourselves, what did we do before computers...cell phones... the internet???

Well, many of my students are still doing without the experiences of technology. They have no home access and our school is, in many cases, the only exposure my children have. They are awesome kindergartners. They are vibrant, eager to learn, and shy about what they deserve. I teach at a Title 1 school, where the majority of our student body receives free or reduced lunch. I constantly look for ways to bring new experiences to my classroom. We've been lucky to receive Title funds to purchase interactive whiteboards. However, with growing budget cuts, the extra money to fund further resources that go with the boards, is no longer there. These kids soak up so much and feel so special by having current materials to use. I would love to see the impact this software has in helping to increase their literacy skills and self confidence.

My Project

This software offers an awesome interactive experience for all learners. It is compatible with our interactive whiteboard and can offer an immediate classroom impact. This will allow me to set up literacy skill stations that can accommodate all levels of learners in my classroom. It will also increase our access to books, by having read alouds at our fingertips. I can offer my students a plethora of book resources that are not available in our school library, all while allowing whole group instruction in a more interactive nature. Students that might struggle with attention issues, will be drawn in by their ability to interact with the board, "play" while learning, highlight text and replay audio texts. This cannot always be done with paper copies. Not only will they be working on building a strong foundation for their reading mastery, they will also be learning how to manipulate the computer. Allowing for more technologically knowledgeable students: a necessity in our fast paced society.

You will be opening the door for increased technology use and attention in my classroom.

I can guarantee you, this software will be utilized daily. I want to give my students every experience possible, reinvesting much of my salary, to do so. I'm often questioned why I stay at my school with all the challenges it can bring. These kids need someone that will say, "You are worth it and I will do everything I can to give you the best experiences." With your help, it will happen!
