Resilient, hardworking, and thoughtful are just some words to describe these third, fourth, and fifth grade students that we are blessed to see day in and day out. It is truly inspiring to work with them and for them, for they teach us just as much as we teach them!
Despite having severe learning disabilities, my students love school and are life long learners.
They love reading, playing basketball, trivia quizzes, and earning reward points at our school.
Due to living in a low income, underprivileged neighborhood, they do not get the same opportunities at school everyday compared to students in more affluent neighborhoods. I will do anything to ensure my students success starting in the classroom, and then leading out into the future. We want to provide these students with more opportunity because they deserve to see the world, and the world deserves to see them.
My Project
My students need this teaching easel to help make learning in our classroom more accessible and engaging from all areas of the classroom. Currently, we do not have anywhere in the classroom where I can model and write from, which makes teaching and learning difficult.
With this easel, I can set up more engaging learning areas in the classroom!
My students can copy morning messages, engage with model lessons, and build words using this easel. We will be able to wheel this easel around the classroom, so students can learn from the carpet, their desks, or the small group table.
Overall, I think that this easel will make our classroom environment more accessible and more engaging. When students can access the material and become more engaged in it, they learn better. They are able to take in new information even better than before! Which makes this easel even more important.
