Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My "Fantastic First Graders" attend a culturally and academically diverse inner city school. Our school serves students in grades K-8. Our students receive daily rigorous academics in a safe learning environment. Nearly 99% of the student population receive free lunch. The economic background where these future leaders thrive from should not inhibit their potential for greatness.
When school funding experiences huge cuts, it is my students that suffer the great loss.
One important priority of mine is to provide my students with 21st century skills necessary to explore and learn like children across the globe. Arthur Fletcher said, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." The minds of my students are in the palm of my hand. It has been my lifelong passion to add to the development of great citizens of an even greater society. My students deserve all that it takes to support their inquiries, facilitate their discoveries, and foster a FUN and engaging learning environment.
My Project
I am requesting a MacBook to help make learning innovating, engaging and fun in my classroom. My students need visual aids to better understand what they are learning. They learn by watching, listening and engaging in interactive activities in the classroom.
The accessibility features in the MacBook makes it a powerful learning tool for students.
This MacBook will be used for daily instruction in all subject areas. With the MacBook, my students will have access to powerful, free apps. These apps will help reinforce reading and math skills. They will be able to interact with digital science programs. It will also unleash their creativity and ability to produce endless, exceptional work. With the MacBook addition to the mounted TV in the classroom just imagine the places my students will go. On a Monday they can explore the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and by Friday they can all search the Sahara Desert for plants and animals. I am excited to see how the power of technology with this MacBook will transform learning. Thank you for considering this project for my students.
