My students need K'Nex kits and Snap Circuits along with a wagon to help us transport the items as the High School Students travel to the Elementary School for our STEM outreach programs.

My Students

Commerce is a small city school which has a culture of hardworking and wonderful students. We may not have the money of bigger systems but we have the support of the community and teachers which pour their heart and souls into kids.

At Commerce, we have to make a little money go a long way.

We select resources which can be used by multiple grade levels and classes and truly share all of our instructional materials. Otherwise, we would not be able to afford to offer high-quality educational experiences to students.

Our kids deserve the best and we work with all of the tools we can find, like Donors Choose, to make their educational experience incredible! You can be a big part of that!

My Project

We are within walking distance of our Primary and Elementary Schools. We are creating STEM activities and labs in our high school classes and the students are then traveling to the younger schools to be instructors and STEM mentors. They are gaining experience in creating, troubleshooting and breaking down STEM projects. Then, they are gaining valuable leadership skills in becoming instructors for those same projects. They have to anticipate questions, learn to use the socratic method and resist the temptation to just 'take over'.

Our vision is a blurring of the lines between the high school science classroom and the elementary school.

We are looking for standard overlap and creating a collaborative learning community.
