My Students
What makes my students so special are their inquisitive minds! They love to explore almost every topic in Life Science! My students are so excited when they participate in Science Lab activities. My students come from very diverse backgrounds.
Every scholar has big plans of exceeding learning requirements while simultaneously having fun each day of class!
My students love hands-on investigations and love to touch and closely look at actual live specimens.
We are a Title 1 school and several of my students come from a low socio-economic background. They come to school ready for new experiences. This school is an amazing place to learn. My objective is to get students excited to learn! My students love to read about surprising topics and are fascinated by photos that pique their interest and draw them into articles on life science, earth science, physical science. My students are voracious readers and love to do research on topics that really interests them.
My Project
Atlanta is a city of rich culture and strong history, and I aim to enrich our classroom environment with plants in order to provide my students with a hands on approach to exploring, mastering and practicing the multifaceted study of life while positively contributing to our school's goal of socioemotional learning.
We spend a large portion of the day indoors and I would like to have a greenhouse to not only provide cleaner air during the pandemic, but to also bring nature inside of our room to provide a more thorough understanding of life science and the benefits of indoor horticulture.
Students will develop both responsibility and accountability while growing and caring for our class plants while also studying their life cycle. In addition, students will also learn the importance of plants in our local ecosystem by delving further into how plants are used to maintain a healthy lifestyle and also to engineer necessities for all organisms.
Materials such as the Sansevieria, rattlesnake plant, Monstera and Areca Palm will be cared for by students while they learn about plant lifecycles in our Ecology unit in order to understand the taxonomy of life and ecological biomes. The tiered plant stand will offer easy placement of our class plants and will also keep them in reasonable reach for students. The small decorative planters will increase amusement and excitement as students care for our plants!
