This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. It is so much fun for the little ones to be just like their teacher by using things just like her! What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use.
We are in dire need of new dry erase materials.
The new dry erase materials will help my students to continue their interactive learning. Plus they will be able to practice writing numbers and letters on the lined side of the boards. They will also be able to use the magnetic boards and magnetic letters and numbers to learn in a more tactile way which many kids this age have the need to do.
