Oh Baby, It's Cold Outside...Hats and Gloves Needed!

My students need warm hats and gloves to play outside. Some kids have very chapped lips and others need water bottles to stay hydrated.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of amazing kids who have goals and aspirations just like most children. However, many struggle with the barriers of poverty, language acquisition, special needs and parents working very long hours. Some of our children have emotional needs and are living in homeless shelter motels that have recently opened in our area.

My high-poverty students strive to succeed, but are limited by the lack of resources available in our small public school environment.

We're trying hard to change that dynamic! Many of my students dream of becoming science and technology leaders. We have some serious-minded, talented students I am certain will master challenges that I would find a struggle.

My students are a constant amazement. I endeavor to support their dreams to the best of my abilities. My kids are the hardest working group of individuals I've been given the joy of educating!

My Project

For the last week or so we have been missing about six to nine children from every class in the school. Why? Because it is flu and cold season! New York City mandates that students must go outside every day for recess except when the temperature is below freezing. And, oh baby, it's cold outside!

Many of our young students are not prepared for the cold outside temperatures, have lost their gloves and hats, or are becoming sick from the germs that are everywhere this time of the year!

With this project for hats, gloves, disinfecting wipes and spray, I hope to combat some of the variables that are affecting our students' health. The water bottles will keep my students hydrated and the chap stick will help to give soothing relief to those children that need it. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
