I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of third graders who are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscles. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
I have recently attended an Orton-Gillingham training on how to help support struggling readers. I am excited and ready to begin working with students. During the small groups lessons, students will need materials to engage in the tactile learning. Through the use of the storage boxes and rice, students will be able to trace out letters easily. Students will use the index cads to create vowel tents and store them in their plastic folders. The folders will also house other materials and papers we will use throughout the lessons. The Phonic through Poetry is one of these papers. This book will provide students with fun poems to read and reinforce the current phonics skill.
Since we are moving to Plan B using both virtual and in person learning students need to be able to easily transport their material from home to school.
