This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I strive to make my classroom welcoming place for students. I give my students age appropriate independence and responsibilities in the classroom, so that they know where to access materials like pencils and paper without having to ask. I take time to help my students build healthy peer relationships through team building, small group tasks, and community meetings. It is important that my students have a strong start to the school year.

Having fresh materials to start the year will help to build classroom community, and also help my students set initial goals for their academic year.

Conversation starters will help grow communication and interpersonal relationship skills covering a range of interesting topics. Books from the Science Comics series will give students background information on a rage of science topics to be covered during the school year, and encourage further reading of science facts. A variety of pens and pencils will be used during writing lessons, as well as to respond to literature in their reading journals. Throughout the year students will complete a number of art projects and paper plates make great palettes in a classroom without a sink, as well as other art based projects throughout the year (including shields during our Ancient Greece unit).
