Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have completely changed my life. They inspire me to appreciate what I have, to overcome obstacles, and look at the bright side. I have students of all ages from kindergarten to fifth grade who deal with challenges such as homelessness, gangs, hunger, and violence. School is a happy, safe place to them which is why I work to create the best possible learning environment for each and every child that I come into contact with.
Regardless of their challenges, these students are the most amazing, hopeful, hardworking children that I have ever met.
They motivate me every day to be the best teacher I can be so that I can help them to be the best people possible.
My Project
With this project I am requesting basic supplies such as Post-its, and erasable colorful pens to help engage and motivate my students. This year I'm focusing on making my reading instruction more engaging, and what better way to do that than using colorful post-its and erasable pens in all colors.
I am also requesting motivational, engaging books that I can read aloud to my student to create a community of readers who practice having a growth mindset.
I teach my students that we embrace mistakes, and learn from them, which is the exact theme of After the Fall, the story of Humpty Dumpty after he fell down. I am also requesting books such as Most People, which shows that in a world where we hear about so many bad things happening, most people really are good people. These books and supplies will help start this year off on a positive note, which will increase student learning.
