My students need increased organization, durable materials, nutritious snacks, and aids for sanitation which will be achieved through the supplies in our project!
Everyday, the school day for our room starts the same way. We greet each other and begin our daily routine. This routine is highly important because in my classroom I serve 9 middle school students that have a diagnosis of autism. This year our goal as a classroom is to exceed expectations!
As an AU classroom in a Title 1 middle school, funding is not always available for the various needs that we have.
However, what we lack in funding, we make up for in positivity! As a first year teacher and the only self-contained teacher at my school, I was nervous as to the support that my classroom would receive but the staff has been extremely welcoming and has embraced my students with open arms! Each of my students have specific needs and require different accommodations in order for them to succeed in our classroom. However, something they all require is a structured learning environment. Students with autism thrive off of routines, organization and consistency. At the end of my first year of teaching, I want to have achieved that in my classroom!
My Project
The supplies that I have requested for my classroom will help in four major areas: instructional materials, sanitation, organization and nutrition.
Copy paper, card stock and lamination paper will allow me to create durable instructional materials. My students tend to be rough on materials so almost everything in my classroom is laminated. Schedules and visual cues posted in the classroom for hygiene reminders, school rules, etc. all have to be laminated. Students also use materials during group and independent work time that need to be sturdy, card stock and lamination paper aid in that.
In any classroom, sanitation is a MUST. Students are constantly sneezing and sniffling this time of year, wipes and brooms will be extremely helpful in the fight against germs!
As a classroom for students will autism organization is key. The file caddy and label maker will make this organization possible!
Lastly the Goldfish and fruit snacks will allow me to provide additional nutrition to my students.
The donations received will assist in creating a exceptional learning environment during this pivotal period of life!
Just imagine the impact that your donation will have on these students!
