We are a multicultural classroom. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We have a large population of migrant students from various places. The largest would be Somali students. For some of our students, this is their first time going to school in America.
Many of our students are trauma-impacted, low-income students.
These students view school as their safe place and a place where they can be themselves.
We have a very supportive community that is built mostly of refugees.
My Project
I am looking to give my students the option to use virtual reality in the classroom.
The new trend in education is to bring your lessons to life so students can experience the lesson in the virtual world.
The Oculus Go has the amazing quality that makes you feel like you are really inside the lesson. Programs such as the human body, the solar system, and chemistry allow students to experience things hands-on, as if they are really on a field trip, to place they will not get to go to otherwise. I am looking to get 3 Oculus Go's to allow my students the very best.
More than half of students from low‑income households
