Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach 4th and 5th grade Montessori in a public school system. It is essential to me to try and instill a love of reading. I want to share picture books that create a class bond, develop a passion for reading, and model compelling reading.

Read-aloud connects students with real-world events, like The Diamond and the Boy: The Creation of Diamonds & The Life of H.

The Tracy Hall book pairs the fascinating biography of H. Tracy Hall with the non-fiction scientific story of how diamonds are made. Kids who like science & who are interested in diamonds will enjoy this story. Many other books will be read including, Everybody Bakes Bread, by Norah Dooley.
