Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We're rallying together to make a difference on May 20th at Huntington Beach State Park! This is a student community service project for students to see what a big impact on the environment each of them can make while also fostering teamwork and social responsibility.
On this date, a group of passionate students are participating in a huge beach cleanup to remove trash, protect marine life, and keep our coastline beautiful here in California.
We are learning about how trash travels from our community, Garden Grove, down to our local beach. We need your help Allstate to provide items for our participants this year.
On the day of the clean up, student leaders divide into teams and assign areas of the beach to small groups for efficiency. Student leaders help to track progress and keep a count of the trash collected and sort waste to separate recyclables from general waste. Lastly, we collaborate to dispose responsibly as we work with local waste management for proper disposal.
Can you help us with educational read aloud books to engage students in conversation before this exciting event; as well as items for the event like sand sifters, pens holders, and pens for tracking and tallying trash. We also need flags for marking trash areas and gold dots to guide participants to drop off areas. Help us take a step toward a cleaner, healthier environment.
