Our students are more than just busy 5 and 6 year olds. They are the innovators of our future, who learn by listening, sharing, and communicating. When you walk into my classroom you will see a sign that tells about my students and classroom.
It reads: "You are now entering the world of the 5 and 6 year old.
If our chairs are too small for you, remember they fit us just right. If you must walk around our games and toys, remember that is through this kind of manipulation that we learn. If we are noisy, it is because we are learning to live with each other. If we seem to be talking too much, remember that is the way we learn our language. If we come up and talk to you, don't be surprised as we are open, friendly, and curious. We want to know you as our friend. Enjoy our world and when you leave we hope you carry with you some of our enthusiasm for living and learning."
My Project
As spring approaches, we love to do hands-on science activities with our students. As a kindergarten team, we are hoping to receive funding for three butterfly gardens and books about the lifecycle of a butterfly.
Our students will be able to watch science come alive as the caterpillars become butterflies.
We believe that this hands-on science activity will enrich the learning of all students. Our students will hear many nonfiction texts about the life cycle of a butterfly, this allows to incorporate literacy skills into our science curriculum as well. We thank you for considering donating to our project!
