This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are extremely optimistic and ambitious, but have been hit extremely hard by the corona virus. Almost all of my students live in Corona, Queens and the surrounding areas which have been the epicenter of the outbreak. Many students and their parents have lost their jobs and have no funds for food or housing. I am constantly talking to students who are now in shelters or have to ration food. It truly breaks my heart.

Yet, they try their hardest to complete the assignments I give and try to keep a smile on their faces.

I want to find a way to help them, as they give me the 100% effort they always strive to provide.

My Project

These food supplies will help to provide some nutrition so that they can concentrate on their academics. Teachers from our school are constantly visiting students and bringing them baskets of food and hygiene supplies to help alleviate some stress in their lives.

We have seen virtually empty refrigerators for many students, and we are trying to collect funds to help our students through this very tough time.

A student who has a nutritious bar in the morning will have just a little more strength to get through the rigors or remote learning.
