My students need five Kindle Fires which will help them identify methods to expand their gardens at the school.

My Students
Our basic day is based upon literacy skills. Many of my students are involved in a plan to create the first Teen Wellness Center in their school district. Many activities are being planned to promote a wellness movement through four components: gardening, exercise, self-esteem and cooking.
My students are from an urban area.
They are trying to meet daily challenges presented to them in their neighborhoods and within the school walls. Poverty, crime, hunger and lack of family support have to be surmounted before they even get to school. Then, they must face a lack of resources, peers without focus and daily disruptions. The students want to learn, and they care about their education as well as their community. They want a better life for all. That is why they want to establish a Teen Wellness Center within the school walls. It would be a place to nurture young minds and nourish the souls of students aching to join the global family through institutions of higher learning.
My Project
Our students would like to receive Kindle Fire devices for several reasons. First, they want to have access to information about gardening. They recently rejuvenated the gardens around our school. They want to read about methods to develop successful agriculture on the school grounds. They want to learn about the types of vegetation best grown in our area, ways to promote plant health and strategies to attract bees to pollinate plants. Next, they would like to access new methods to cook their produce in a healthy manner along with donated proteins and other food items. Recipes can be found to promote healthy eating. In addition, strategies to lose weight and simple exercise activities can be discovered through the Kindle device. The goal is to create an environment where wellness can occur among the students in our school.
Donations are always beneficial to my class.
Donations allow me to purchase resources which otherwise might not be available to my students. Teachers must create an avenue to learning, and there are many avenues students need to reach academic success. Perhaps they have strengths in art, poetry, technology or other creative manners. Without additional resources, we can not tap into these diverse methods of expression which students possess.
