My students need these items because they are not able to go to the bathroom on their own. These items are essential for them and those that help change them throughout the school day.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of students are non-verbal and this gives them a way to express themselves. Most of the students come from lower socioeconomic neighborhoods in Chicago. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also very diverse schools. We have a large population of Special Needs students that attend our school.
Our students do not always have the financial means to purchase items for the school year, such as pull-ups, diapers, wipes, gloves, paper towels, paper, etc.
These are items that are needed in our classroom environment. With your donations, we can improve their lives during the school day.
My Project
At our school, we strive to create a nurturing environment for our students to learn. Our classroom has students in various grade levels and some of the students are in wheelchairs. It is important as educators to create this type of positive learning environment, and true growth happens when students feel comfortable and confident in themselves.
We will be able to provide the appropriate items that our students need for self-care, but cannot voice, due to their disabilities.
The wipes, underpads, gloves, diapers will be used for students that are not toilet trained by the staff members who assist in changing them.
The items we have requested will help facilitate that for our students. Thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter for our students.
